Where has everyone mounted their aftermarket tachs?

i have mine mounted on the side of the radio, so nobody could see it, but for me to see it i have to look down and take my eyes off the road..is the only solution to go rice style and put it on the dash?

I've seen people mount them on the steering column at an angle so it just coveres the original tach...

But basically anywhere you put it where its easy to look at, if you've got a shift light... well, night driving sucks

on second thought, if you;ve got a shift light... just point it at an angle from its current and don't worry about the tach those lights are bright enough to give a raccoon a heart attack hehe

I've seen them mounted to the A-pillar alot. A real good location I think, right in the field of view but doesn't obscure vision too much.

I mounted mine right under the center a/c vents. Not too much of a problem to see it.

This is where I mounted mine. I wouldn't do this in my RS since it obstructs the view some, but I mostly drag the Z28 anyway.

Why the heck would someone want to mount something that enormous in the field of view. And I also don't understand why people get tachs when they've already got one. Plus, does a big a$$ tach like that make you go faster? shift better? Oh by the way, I've got my 3 inch tach mounted next to the cigarrete lighter.

Actually it does make you shift better. Some of us weren't blessed with great vision and I like the big numbers. The shiftlight is AWESOME. I use it for racing and as long as you don't look into the light or keep the cap over it you are alright. I have mine mounted under my middle heater vents and it is nice and out of the way. If you ever want to take it back out it is no problem. When the light goes off it is not staring you right in the eyes and it works good.

Factory tachs can be off by hundreds of rpms, that's why use an aftermarket tach.

You will have to copy and paste to see the picture, but here is where I put mine.

I JUST PUT MINE IN A 3 POD PILLAR FROM LO-TEK. HAS NOT BLOCKED MY VISON AT ALL. THE AUTOMETERS LOOK GREAT, GIVING IT A FACTORY APPERANCE. THE BIG ONES ARE TOO MUCH FOR ME AND THEY BLOCK VIEW OF OTHER DASH ITEMS.
