cranking problems

Hey guys a friend of mine has a 1991 RS Camaro. This is the prob. Her car will sometimes crank but not always.

she has checked the following:

altenator, wires that run from starter to park and neutral, battery cables, wires from starter to fuseable links.

All these things were fine.
She just replaced the starter and cylanoid. This happens most often after the car has been runing. Does anyone have ideas what might be the problem?

A.

When it does it, try tapping on the solonoid with the butt of a screwdriver. Our starter solonoids are so close to the exhaust system that they commonly experience heat soak and stop working until they cool.

The solution to that problem (if that's actually what it is) is either a heat shield/heat wrap for the starter and solonoid, or a remote solonoid similar to Fords (but don't use the Ford part because they're notorious for crapping out).
