Overhead Consule

Recently I had to remove my headliner do to a leak in my t-top seals. It was completly destroyed and starting to stink. I figured I could get an overhead consule, put it up and build a replacement headliner made out of cardboard reinforced with fibergalss covering around it. Does the overhead consule connect into the headliner itself or to the body.
