poping the hood problem

hey guys, i have a situation that must be solved once and for all. well i know many of my fellow thirdgen buddies all have the same problem. everyone has a problem with poping their hood. after pulling the hood cable thing the hood doesnt pop up. you ussually have to play with it and try to get it to pop up. now i tried rasing the bumbers but that didnt help much. now if anyone knew what the solution is, or has any tips, i would appreciate it. thanks

2 words... New spring.

You can either strech the old one (and weaken it further) or go get a new one.

Search the archives. Basically take the latch off and give it a good clean. Lube moving parts and reinstall.. worked for me!

I hosed it down with WD40, then gave it a nice spray of litheum lubricant. Haven't had a problem for a year.

I bought a new latch for about $30, and it fixed all my problems. Cleaning mine would only temporarily fix it for about 2 months. I think mine was gone beyond others. 2 years now, and she pops up perfectly everytime.

Ha, Ha!

I seriously clean the sh*t out of mine, adjusted it up and down, but to no avail. Some years later, I have a happy hood. Definitely not pissed off here.

When I first got my 91 Camaro it was a royal pain in the tush to get the hood open until I figured out the secret to it. (Yes, I tried cleaning and oiling the mechanism and cable.) Here's how it goes: Pull the hood release and you should hear a faint click then make sure the handle returns to the all-the-way-in position. Then walk over to the hood and push down on it, then pull it up, then release the safety latch. I know this sound complicated but I never have any problem getting the hood open and its not worth it to me to spend any money to get it to pop up real nice on it's own. (I would guess I need a new spring.)

you will probably find that the pin isnot centerd correctly in the hole lower the hood down toit but dont close look at the pin to hole relationship you will probably see that its off line a tad then just re aline on the adjusters
