Re: Daytona hood fixin

is it fiberglass or steel?

If you have bare metal, you will want to use a self etch or an epoxy primer over the bare metal before doing anything.

sorry for the time it took to reply but it is a fiberglass hood ,and i was wondering if thier is a special priming process inorder for the hood to keep its integrity and not crack as easy.

I'd use epoxy. Scuff the hood with 220 and lay 3 coats of epoxy.

Yup, epoxy primer it. Even if it were steel I would still say to use an epoxy. With modrn epoxy primers there is no need for self etching.

Re: Daytona hood fixin

I will agree with the use of epoxy primer, There is a special primer just for fiberglass, but its mainly an epoxy primer that doesn't absorb into the fiberglass to bad and works with the gel coat,

Should work out. Use a 1.4 or so tip, 50psi on the regulator and lay down 6" wide strokes overlapping 50%. Two wet coats, then hit it with color.
