Will the split rear seats fit in my TA...that came witht he regular seats?

I have the chance to buy a set of black cloth seats from an '88. They have the split style rear seats. How will they fit in my car? Will I need to make any modifications? Will they just bolt it? Has anybody ever done this before? Let me know, Thanks.

I have the split and a solid rear back seat. I have the solid one installed right now. The split rear requires these little steel pegs that stick out and hinge the inside of each back rest. Here's a pic to help ya out.

Oh crap my carpet looks like Koolaid is all over it. I guess it's because it's 1:07a.m. and I just ran outside and took the pic.

Thanks for the pic. So if I buy these seats...how easy are they to install? I am in need of black seats...and they are a good price. I dont feel like spending $300 for black GTA seats so for $175 I am getting black TA seats. Do you think the TA seats will look nice in my TA? I really like the GTA seats...but it is my first car and I dont want to go too crazy. Both sets have no rips, wear or tears. Oh yea...the TA seats are non power...can I put them on my power tracks and make them power? Cant I just mount them on the existing tracks and make my life easier? Thanks.

I would say that it is not worth the effort. I was going to do the same thing to my Formula. I bought a car and it had the split back seat.

First) From 82-88 The 1 piece rear back had one handle on the passenger side. Starting in 89, when GM went to rear seat seatbelts both sides got a latch. The spit rear back seat from 82-92 all of them have handles on both sides.

Second) As seen above by jobyran26, the spit rear back also had the little piece on the tunnel for a hinge. The piece is WELDED to the tunnel, at least it was in my 83 T/A parts car. My 87 does NOT have that piece at all.

Anything can be done if you want to take the time...

Thanks for all the help. I guess that I will just hold off. I really dont feeel like spending $300 on a set of GTA seats...even though I really want them...but at least they dont have the split rear seats. I wanted the set with the split rears b/c they would be half the price. Thanks.

look for 4th gen seats, cheaper than the prices you are talking and they are one piece rear seats.

I gave up on my 4th gen search. I couldnt find a cheap set...they were all $400 and up. If anything I will go with the set of black cloth GTA seats. They will be $300 shipped to my house. I actually found a set of Firehawk seats from a '97...they were gray and in mint condition. The guy wanted $600 for them...meanwhile they were cloth. Other than that...I cannot find a set of 4th gen cloth anywhere. I dont want to spend over $300 shipped to my house. I am only 16...I have better things to do with my money...like starting to save for my 4th gen. I dont want my seats to look crappy...especially since I have t-tops. That is why I want a nice set. Now...if I have totally black interior plastic panels, a black rug, black floormats with the gray birds...will it look dumb having charcoal gray seats? If I get gray seats...should I get the headliner the same color to match...or should I get it black too? I wanted a totally black interior...and could very well have it...as long as my wallet can handle it. Well let me know. Thanks.
