Transam headlamp replacement prob.

How do you get at the 2 screws on the bottom of the chrome headlamp bezel to remove the lamp on a 85' Transam.

good luck.....without taking the whole flip up light out, there is only one way and that is through the front. Just get a towel and carefully slide that screwdriver through and get to the screws.

Whenever I have installed or removed the headlamp I have just bent the trim bezel downward. Make sure you are very careful because it is thin, I have never had any trouble with it breaking. Make sure you cover your front bumper with a rag (it can get pretty tough getting the light out, last thing you want is scratched paint). Good luck

I've done the samething TAdan has done. I've taken mine off about 6times for one reason or the other and never had a problem.

i agree with the above. either take out the whole headlight assembly or be really careful bending the bezel.

Not sure if we're talking about the same thing, but when i changed my headlights, I turned on the lights so they came up, and unplugged them so they didn't blind me. I then removed the black plastic housing (trim piece) around the headlight. (I can't remember without looking exactly where and how many screws there were, but it came off really easily.) After removing that, the retainer ring is easy to get to. Hope that helps.

Taking off the front nose is how I have gotten to some of mine. Granted, I was painting the cars when I did it so it was convenient. There are 4 bolts hlding on the headlight, 2 you can see from the top, the other 2 are hidden underneath, and are reasonably easy to get to once you remove the black plastic bezel & have the headlight up.

Since your headlight will not go up that makes life a little more interesting. I suspect you might be able to remove the spacer piece between the radiator core support and the from facia, it might be interesting, and a lot of work, but you have to do what you have to.

As for turning off the headlights and having the light up, it is pretty simple. On my 87 and on my 91 I had I could turn on the headlights, and then turn off the headlights, before the headlights went into hiding turn on the parking lights, the headlights would stay UP.

Just remove the black plastic housing around the headlight and then you can reach all the bolts, 2 on the top and 2 on the bottom.
