as far as I know neither the front nor the cowl is functional
But I've heard otherwise on the newer version of the hoods...
If you have a good fiberglass worker in your town the front induction can be made to be functional rather easilly with mesh installed and all for about $50 (thats what it cost out here anyways)

yep, its the american racing big block hood, i also have it on my '91 camaro, its open in the back and i cut out the front, scoops in quite a lot of air, i have only a modded out 305 (14x4 k&n open element and 14inch k&n filter top)... can't qait to get my 383

when i said i cut it out i meant the body shop ppl did, hehe, they said it not hard, u prolly can do it yerself, just get whatever tool is cool for cutting fiberglass and use that, they did a pretty goos job, it kinda jagged (cant tell form outside, but when im driving i can see through the open back of the hood scoop out the front section and it looks a bit jagged so when i take my car to body shop next (or when i decide to paint my vette fiberglass taillight piece) i will sand it down.

how is it structially ? did that weaken it a whole lot ??
im planning on doin this sunday...
