Hood Question , and Hinges.

I have an ASCD SS hood, with or without the shocks, the hood is incredibally hard to open as it likes to flex, almost like the hinging is too hard for it to operate due to its light ness. I litterally have to wobble it up but down is no problem.

So heres teh question... has anyone/is there a replacement style hinge that would be more conventional that i can use rather than teh stock hinges. I was thinking of something that would use the factory bolts on the hood and fender but hinge differently. If there is or if anyone has any ideas/suggestions please let me know!! Thanks in advance for all your help yall.

Some people like to use the hinges with worn out small support shocks or like to use very old used hinges from an early 80's boneyard donor.

well i tried that too, with the worn out hood shocks, but that didnt work.. whats different about the hinges from an early 80's camaro? I was thinkin that a simple hinge and prop rod would do me just fine, but i dont know where / how to get one to work with the hoods existing mounting holes.

any other ideas/ input???

thanks

Well this is what my friend did on his 87 Monte SS. He took out the hinges and the latches, and put pins in the four corners. When he wants to work on the car, pull the pins, and remove hood from car. Not to mention lots of room to work that way!

Mikesc, thanks for the input, I thought about doing that, but i dislike the look of hood pins up that high on the hood. Besides, i dont always have someone there to help me lift off a hood when i need to work on the engine/ check something out. Is there any other ideas that any of ya'll have? thanks again for your input.

double post edit.

So there is no one else out there with aftermarket hoods that have switched hinges or made it easier to move the hinges???

i don't think that the hinges and prop would be a bad idea, you could take one from a car or make one yourself.
