The title says it all.... I've been all over town trying to track the things down. I'm reluctant to just buy them online because with these self-tapping nuts it's hard to determine the proper size.

Any links would be really appreciated.

 

They are called acorn push nuts. I googled it and a few different suppliers came up. Ineed to get some myself. I was just looking the other day for some.

I mean I can get the size of the nut in terms of what size wrench turns it, but would there be different sized holes?

 

All the ones I got off where a 13mm and I might have a few kicking around here somewhere if you want me to look

I did some digging and I believe the part number is 11501047. Description says "NUT, Met Skw (M5x15) Flg Phos (Part of 6)". Looks like I found something on the following website but it is not clear if this is the right part. Worth a call...

Those links are appreciated, but with the exception of gm link, none of those are correct. Still iffy on the gm one though because it doesn't have a pic.

It isn't a push nut, it isn't an acorn nut, it's an acorn push nut. thus why I've been having such a hard time. The size of the nut (not the hole) is 11mm you can't use regular old push nuts because in the front part of the fx at least the shaft you screw it onto is right against the door, so there isn't room. I've tried fitting a few push nuts they have at the hardware store and there just isn't enough room.

This particular size seems nearly impossible to find new. There are various ebay auctions where people are selling the nuts off of their car, but those are old and rusty... not sure how long they would last. I'm running out of ideas.

 

Did you check with your local GM Dealer or your local auto Paint Supply co.????

I haven't checked with the dealer yet, mostly because I would probably have to take the car down and atm I've got the inside of the door off.

manta that's not an acron nut like you linked to, we are looking for an acron push nut. You should be able to tell by the very pic you posted.
