Yes, there are sveral cars out there with dual electric mirrors, I think just about all firebirds did standadr from 91-92. I have seen few without it. the GTA was standard all years If i remember right, you could get it delete though.

I think the first year for the T/A power mirrors was 85, havent seen it on any earlier. My elec mirrors are off an 85 or 86. The mechs will bolt right in. the most difficult part to do properly is running the wires from the driver to passenger sides.

the lighted rear view mirror, was standard in 91 & 92 for sure, I think they might havs started using the mirror with the map light in it in about 89 or so as an option do not really know.

I personally prefer the autodimming rearview mirrors. I get mine from early 90s Rivs, all you need to run is 3 wires, the Magenta color is for switched power, the green wire goes to your wire for backup lights, and Black is obviously ground.

Hope this helps.

My friends 1982 Trans Am came with dual power mirrors. And my 1983 Trans Am has it too...

And my 1990 Firebird has the lighted rear view mirror (Map Light).

I want to put some in my '86 while I'm on an upgrading frenzy...How difficult is it to install them in place of the original remote unit? I'm not yet sure if I want to install the switch in the console instead of the door...I can't make up my mind...that's where I think GM shoulda put it anyway...

My Formula has them....

dhirocz:
The switch for them is mounted on the console.... I'd imagine that you could just get the harnass out of a 'bird and mount the camaro switch in the same spot with it....

Almost forgot.... It has the lighted rear view mirror as well. 2 map lights.

I've installed them on my RS 'vert. If you get the entire assy, including the wiring it will be much easier. There are at least 3 versions of power mirrors. The early ones have a center screw behind the mirror glass forcing you to break the glass to remove it. Later version has a cross shaped piece which snaps onto the back of the plastic pisce holding the mirror glass. The mirrors mount to a motor which bolts into your existing mirror shells. If you have a HELM manual it will help in sorting out the wiring. Buy a set of aligator clip jumpers to help hook up all the wires and test everything out. To mount it correctly you have to pull off the dash pad as well as the door inner panels. Good luck, Lon.
