So, do you like it?
I'd do it if I were proficient in body work.

That's the kind of body stuff that should be produced for 3rd gens. Not crap like that FX designs peice.

Just buy a damned 4th gen, instead of making some bastard mutation of a 3rd gen. If you like that look, save your pennies and get a WS6.

I think it looks pretty good. Slap one of the early fourthgen ram air hoods for thirdgen birds and it rocks.

I actually think I'd buy that (snap judgement for the sake of argument) if GTAuto made a fiberglass version just like their other stuff

While I think the 1st one looks good, I find it hard to believe at the same time more people aren't saying "if you want the car to look like a 4th gen,, just go buy one bla bla bla...", since the same thing is said about "rice mods" (as in "go buy an import")to 3rd gens.

Even off center,, the 1st pic is pretty sharp though.

that is so what I was thinking! You did an awesome job on the front and sides. You should try the back with the bumper and maybe the lights. That would be the ultimate gfx kit.

Thanks, I do hope GT Auto makes this kit.
I was at the dealer looking up prices for the Facia and related hardware and it would be a big job to fabricate everything to mount up. A direct bolt on would be nice to be able to buy.
I can get the Facia for $305, absorber for $75, that's all I looked at yesterday. The lights should be about $200+ for all 4.

While I applaud the creativity behind the idea, the mixing of the two body styles just doesn't look right. The lines from each car do not flow with one another. This is not an opinion, it's a fact. The angular lines of the third-gen just don't blend with the sweeping curves of the fourth-gen. They are both great looking cars individually, but not when they're combined. I tend to agree with those who say if you like the look of the fourth-gen, then buy one. I think if you had a third-gen with these body modifications it would say this about the owner; "I really want a fourth-gen, but this is all I can afford". A true fan of the third-gen cars wouldn't do this. Again, the photoshop work is cool, and I can appreciate that aspect of it, just don't make it a reality. I have played around with many car pictures, but it was for fun only, never would I attempt to execute any of those crazy concoctions.(one of them was a VW Golf-looking thing created from a current platform Eldorado!) Go ahead and flame me, just think about this, how many great cars from the sixties were destroyed in the seventies by so-called customizers?

while i respect your opinion i don't see your balance of lines & curves. I think they sweep in and out very well and compliment each other.

which brings me 2 another point

There are a couple of reasons I don't really want to get a 4th gen, we already have 2, a 96 T/A and a 96 Camaro. Working in the engine bay of both 4th gens is a PITA.

The 86 T/A looks great stock, but there are some aspects of the 4th gen T/A that I like, for example the 95-97 WS6 hood, 98+ nose, 95-02 spoiler. I am not making the car into something it isn't, it's still a Trans Am.
It's like having an 82-89 Camaro and putting 91-92 ground effects on it, it's a body enhancement.
So, there, that's how I look at it.
Here are my cars,

Go for it dude, at least it's F-body parts. As far as saying if you want a 4th gen buy one, what about all the guys that swap LT1's and LS1's and fourth gen interiors into their first, second or third gens? Are you gonna say the same thing? As long as the mods are within the F-body family let it be.

As much as I dislike red,, it doesn't actually look too bad (one solid color)
http://www.deadbird.org/z/xbreed.jpg
(white is a PITA to add color to)

I certainly wouldn't to it to my baby but,,
if I had another one to do that to & some
extra cash,,,

The only real difficulty would be having to
either reskin the door or make an entire
new one along with a rocker panel to get
that curve in the door.

Axle/Gears: 3.08/ 3.23
soulbounder,,

As much as I would like to,, the 91-92 T/As/firebirdds only differed in the gfx department,, since this edit does away with any nose/gfx from the 3rdgen era,,, it doesn't matter 82 to 92,, it will all look the same once you remove the lower gfx. A 92 will look the same as an 82 stripped down using the same nose/gfx. The edited pic could be a 3rd gen from 82 to 92,, the general chassis/body never changed thru the years.

Too bad i am not a Photoshop guru, but I have actually had this idea for a long long time, and have just aquired the front turn signals off a totaled 99 TA a few weeks ago. Zepher, seems like you and I share the same idea, the only difference is I was just going to modify the existing 3rd gen front bumper cover..the setup would be the same though, utilizing 98+ lighting placements. The existing 3rd gen front blinkers would be blacked out. I have sketchs of my idea, but you've got something much better. I'd defeintly go for this conversion, I do hope someone builds it soon and produces it...becasue I'd be getting it :-D

I am going to see if I can get a cheap bumber cover from a wrecked T/A and see how close it would mount up.
I'll keep all that are interested informed.

I think it looks real good. The only thing I would change is the size of the turn signal, and fog light holes. IMO they kinda over see the headlight area. Like some have stated, ad a Ram Air hood, the spoiler off of a 4th gen Ram Air and you would have a very nice ride.

Yea, I realize that deadbird, lol. Do you think that nose with 91/92 gfx would look ok? I'd love to get a 98 or up nose onto my 91, with original gfx, and a raptor style hood. Not the 4 nostrils, but the hood that ties in with the bevels in the nose. Zepher, think you could put a 98+ nose on that?
