hood wont raise evenly????

when i had my hood removed for painting it was put back together with new struts, but it won't raise evenly......... it seems to line up with the body nicely and looks good when closed; but you definately have to put more pressure on one side then the other to raise it.

has anyone had this problem?

Yup, same here. I have to put more pressure on the drivers side, but I have no idea why it does that either...sorry Anyone else??

It's probably because one of the hinges is a bit tweaked. Loosen the 3 bolts, then retighten them and see if it helps.

I've tried adjusting them up and down every which way possible; but there is only so far you can go with out throwing off the angle of the hood!!

I don't understand because the hinges seemed to work perfect before they were coated now it doesn't

any other ideas?

Are you sure the hood shocks are working properly. When my car was painted, the guy who painted it got a little bit of paint on one of the shocks. It screwed up the seal and leaked all the gas and oil out.

Mine did it too until I put new hood shocks in after I had the car painted.

My camaro started doing that after I put new struts on (having the hood jumped on didn't make it any better either). The drivers side pops easily & then the pass side jumps up after the drivers side gets to a certain height. One (more obvious now) suspicion on mine is the the underhood reinforcement seperating from the skin, since it's only glued on (except around the perimeter), letting the hood cross flex (or bow, whichever you want to call it) easily. My 'bird stopped doing that after getting a brand new hood.

Might not be the true problem, but since getting jumped on, & the reinforcement is hanging on by a thread, my camaro hood is worse than it was (and more rattly). It seems camaros might be a bit more prone to this because of the bracing & the square hood, but that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

i suppose it could be the strut, it is brand new; but it could happen.........i know what you guys are describing, but this is a little different. I'll try to replace my strut again and see if that helps i guess.

my hood does the exact same thing driver side pops up first then the passegner catches up, i dotn really know if its the positioning of the hood or just the fact that my struts didnt work when i got the car so i had to throw on soem new ones, i think its just the hood

Mine does that too.....my old 84 had no prob but the hood shockes where beat. I find that the hood on the 91 wobbles all the time and the hinges aren't really secure....I think it is the nature of my car.
