My 88 Formula 350

Always wanted to firebird, since 2006, but it was not possible. In summer 2012, here in this condition, I first saw her, but her engine was still standing with a transmission), and after some hesitation, decided to buy it (but it was sold without engine and transmission). While the car was on the move, we decided to ride it to the traffic police to re-register. There were denied the statement on theaccounting as Machine dismantled.
On the way back, in traffic on the Ring Road (around Moscow), the fan cut some pipes and radiator antifreeze started to pour right on the reservoir). As a result, a hovering "a hell of a chariot," topping up every 5 minutes, the water, somehow got there. In the evening of the same due to Kesh made raditor, manned the machine temporarily, and the next day everything went well in the traffic police.

Bought a car without an engine, transmission, interior, exhaust. Price was 6700$

Re: My 88 Formula 350

Welcome to the Third Gen group. Looks like you got some work ahead of you. I didn't see any significant rust or body damage there, look like a solid body to work with. I wonder if it's a Canadian car, I don't think US Formula 350 was available with T-tops, you should be able to tell from the VIN #, Too bad the console is missing with the RPO sticker, that would tell you alot about the original car.

From the interior shot with the manual trans shifter, I'd bet its really a 305 5speed ttop car.

Yeah, I was thinking that might be a possibility too. As I understand it, the VIN# will tell what engine was originally in the car and where it was built.

Yup, 8th digit of the vin will tell which motor.

Re: My 88 Formula 350

Yes.you are right. There was 305 engine with T5. But MadPet bought it without engine and transmission. He has 350 Vortec(with carb.) and TH400 to swap)

Re: My 88 Formula 350

Outside the body is not rusty, but in fact it is not. When turned over the body, was shocked. Lots of rust and traces of poor repair.

Re: My 88 Formula 350

U.S. winters were rough enough on these cars, so I can't imagine what Moscow winters would do to one. That looks like some very serious rust. Going to be a tough restoration. Would be a lot easier here in the U.S.!

Judging from your purchase price, it sounds like these cars bring a big premium over there since there can't be more than a handful of them. The 305/5 speed/t-top combination makes it a great candidate for restoration though.

Re: My 88 Formula 350

Hmm, maybe I'll ship the 85 out to Russia if that's the price a shell commands! What would a complete running car go for?
