Who here has changed their Power window Motor??? come in

The power windows on both sides seem to be dead, i have to wait at least 1 minute for each for every interval for the window to go up, Could this be due to the power window motor or something else. When we were stripping my friends 88 camaro i couldnt find the power window motor. And yes i was sure it was a power window car. I thought i saw it, but i was as clueless to find out how to take it out. Im really clueless as how to take it out if possible could someone post a pic of the place that power window motors are located and where exactly do i go to take it out......

PITA that is all I can say about this. Yeah your motors are toast. I got mine from a junk yard and took them to a place to have it done. Cost me about 150 total but I didn't have to mess with the trouble of doing it myself. The motor itself is pop rivited to the door frame and is attatched to the window regulators. there is a tech article about it check that out and you shouldn't have any trouble.

Check out power windows 101 in the tech articles under general repair.91z is right, it's a PITA! I found it a little easier with some help in the form of another pair of hands. Both of us were pretty sliced up afterwards as there's a lot of sharp edges in the door.
Motors are about $50 at Pep Boys, which seems pretty reasonable (rebuilt).
Have two motors going in my S10 Blazer, been putting off for a while. Not looking forward to it!

Me myself would not mess with the used ones or rebuilt ones.New is the way to go my friend,i was even told this by a guy that rebuilds power window motors.Right now on eBay there is a guy selling them brand new for around 30 bucks, just type Firebird in the text bar and then click search titles and descriptions, then of course click search, scroll a little..There you go,but guess what?..your gonna have to out bid me,i think i might buy them..hehehe..as far as installing them yourself,if you do,becareful my friend,i have truly heard some horror stories.Best to get a local shop to do it for you, usualy around 75 a side or so..Hope this helps you out!

Ok, I've replied to this before and nobody ever seems to try it, but here is what I did...

Rather than having to pull the whole friggin track and all, wedge the window in the up position with rubber wedges so that it will not go down. Find the approximate location of the 3 rivets that hold the motor to the track and drill a hole on the inside door skin to gain access to the rivets...Drill out the rivets and pull the motor out of the door...line up the new motor, bolt it back in place with the supplied bolts and some threadlock and you're done.

Took me about 30 mins tops per door and I haven't had a problem with them since.

Good luck.

I was concerned with my motors as well.....

located behind the door panel of course towards the front bottom.

I went to Parttrackers.com and a dealer quoted me 30 a pop for new lifetime warranty power window motors..a great thing indeed..

but the shop charged me 238 to install them. so i balanced out...i do not recommend trying to install them yourself. TRULY PITA!! and then you give up anyway, just have the panels removed when you take it in....save on labor costs.

also....once in, get a higher cranking battery..i replaced my 720 with a 1000 and the windows zoom up, and down.....and up and down and up and down.
