3 problems

My hood latch has started to not release the hood. I have to use a knife to slide in an pop the latch.
How can I repair this? Also what type of lubricant should I use on the door hinges?
I have been working on the fine tuning on the body. I am having trouble aligning the hood. It might have been slightly pushed back and down (1/4"). I have loosened the bolts on the hood to body and tried to move it without fixing the problem. I am stumped. Please give me easy directions I have to do all this by myself. Thanks.

For one thing, lubricate the hood latch. I usually just use penetrating oil on the hood and door hinges about once a month. Doesnt hurt to lubricate the door and hatch latches too. And another thing is if the hood still doesnt pop then your hood alignment is causing it to not pop open.

Bombardier makes a really good lubricant, if you can find it. Places around here that sell Snomobiles & such sell it. I figure in VA Snowmobiles are not a hot ticket, so try a place that sells Lawnmowers, ATV's or even boats. etc.

Its called simply Bombardier LUBE, and the can is purple on top, red in the middle & Yellow on the bottom.

Hope that helps

I bought a car that the latch did not work, The spring was all out of wack, I had to replace it. At the Junkyard for about $5.

The latch is adjustable, Up & down on the latch portion, right & left on the hood.

hey elizabeth, use some wd40 on those dore hinges, mine were squeeking like crazy so i sprayed some wd40 and it went away as far as your hood goes, um if its not laying straight you gotta play around with those 2 black ***** that lay under your hood, they control the hieght of the hood on each side so you can get it to lay straight. good luck with your 3rd gen f-body!
