It finally completely done <except not getting a speed signal which i know how to fix but im lazy> my only question for those that have it is two-fold

1. what did you do to get hi-beam inditor to show. I taped the old template over it but it looks pretty bad.

2. is there a way to get another black face covering. mine is way scratched < i recieved it from ebay that way>

 

1) There's a sort of "blackout tape" on the high-beam transparency. You have to retain that. Then you have to attach the transparency to the light riser column. That keeps the light bulb from illuminating the circuit board (which I guess is what you mean by it looking bad) Use a little hot glue around the piece (if you don't have a hot-glue gun they're only $6 bucks these days), or use electrical tape. You'll have to play with the alignment a little to get it to appear correctly through the little hole in the board, so use electrical tape until you have it set right, then use the hot-glue to "set" it more or less permenantly. You basically have to seal out all the light so that it only shines through the high-beam silhouette.

2) You might be able to get another smoked lens from Cyberdyne, but most likely not. I'd send you my old one, but I cracked it when I overtightened a screw on one corner. You can make one of your own. Hardware stores sell sheets of smoked acrylic. All you'd have to do is trace out the original onto the acrylic stock, and drill the two holes for the upper screws and one hole for the function button. Use a fine-toothed saber saw and lubricate the blade with WD-40 or water while cutting to prevent melting the acrylic or getting chipped cuts. Also lubricate the drill bits and use gentle pressure and medium speeds.
