90-92 Nose on an 88 Formula

I'm looking to put one of the pointed noses from the late third gens onto my 88 Formula, and I was wondering if it could be done (easily). Does anyone know if they are interchangable?

Why would it look funny? As long as its a 90-92 Formula(not Trans am) front end you will be fine!!!

Keep in mind that you'll have to re-locate the turn signal lights. Other than that *if* you get a Formula's or base Firebird's (read w/o gfx) nose you'll be fine. Send pics when you get it done, and if you can, take a couple pics and make a tech article out of it.

Alright, so you wouldn't suggest it unless its from a Formula? I hadn't even thought about that. Also, any thoughts on how the pointed nose on an 88 Formula would work with the 4th gen hood? I'm more partial to that than I am to the pointed nose...

Here's a quick rundown of a few of the differences from a 90 formula front end and a 91 formula front end. The fascia aka nose, the headlights and doors, the turn signals, and the impact deadening plastic. There may be more but those are the obviously different parts. Also to obtain the correct appearance you'd also need a 91-92 Formula rear bumper to get rid of the bumperettes.

As for the rear bumpers, you MIGHT be able to get a 82-84 ish firebird bumper to look right, it can't have the ground effects. 82-83 T/A would work.

The headlight beasels are different, in 91-92, but you can remove the besel & forget it that would solve that problem, the only thing is when your lights were up you can see the back side of the lights.

If you want a headlight besel, there pretty reasonable from a dealer. BUT, the 91-92 headlights were smaller, the bucket is different, the cover that is painted body color can be modified to work with the late style bezels though (cut one of the 4 screw tabs.) Basically EVERYTHING that is a moving part on the the headlights changed in 1991-1992. EXCEPT for the motor assemblies & the arms.

Like mentioned before you have to relocate your parking lights. Get Everything off a donor car, that should save a load of time....
