A while back someone posted a topic about opinions on his ride. Some guys liked his lace GTA rims, but then he posted that they were not true GTA rims.I think he even gave the name of the place where he got them.I will take a look in a little bit to see if I can find the post.

I don't know of any 17" that are available anymore, but you an find 16" here:

Classic Industries Firebird catalogue page 270...

Complete set of 4 ...... $539

16" Factory GTA STYLE Alloy Wheels

You can get the catalogue from http://www.classicindustries.com/

It's a very large PDF though, so if your not on DSL or Cable you may not want to download it until you have plenty of free time

They were American Racing wheels if I remember right but I looked on their website and they're not on there. I'd like some too.

BBK use to make one like ours if I remember correctly. I don't need 16's I have 2front and 4 rear wheels I want 17's for the car to give it a meaner look to it and handle better. I am thinking I will have to make a casting and go into business just kidding I wish I could find these wheels they look so great on my car.

The closest match I have ever seen where made by Rikken. They where a very close match. They show up on E-Bay all the time since they where big with the 'Vette guys in the 80's.

I think 17" GTA rims would be awesome. Improve handling and look stock at the same time.

I third that!

A while back, a similar thread had a reference to Boyd Coddington as having something close but, I couldn't come up with anything. I also seem to remember someone saying ARE but that was a scratch for me as well.

reason aftermarket companies didnt make any 17 inch GTA rims was the 16" by itself had a tendancy to crack, so the aftermarket companies refused the idea of building one, and figured they would not make a profit out of it.

The ones i have on my z28 are constantly mistaken for the GTA rims, but they are made by a company called Cheviot. Australian company and hard to find. Mine were actually made in the early 80's, but were never installed. I know of only one place that does (or used to do) business with them, its called tiremag, but its in Toronto. I dont think they make the wheels anymore but i could be wrong.

My SEC Racing Wheels look similiar to GTA wheels and are 17", but SEC went out of business....Maybe you could find some used if you like mine. They were pretty expensive though, rear 17 X 12"s were $359.99 each, and the front 17 X 9.5"s were $329.99 each when they were new. Here's a few pics and there are several more on my site.

Yes, the center section is the same on all 4. My wheels are a 3 peice design, and the offset from the hub out is the same on all 4, also. The back "ring" is the only one that is different. Strangely enough, also, is the fact the center sections have {16"} casted into them, so I can only assume that maybe SEC designed the 16" version first, and then when they made a 17" version, they used the same center. One more cool thing is that I don't have to run any adapters, they're bolted directly to rotors/axle. Lastly, thanx for the compliment, I love these wheels!!

Last time I knew a company, don't remember who, was offering a service to increase a wheel's diameter. It seems what they were doing is welding a billet bead in place of the factory ones. This way they could make a 14" wheel in to a 15" one. It should work going from 16" to 17". I am sure its not cheap, but it will make certain you have the factory wheel look.

now that sounds great. Anyone know the name of a company that would provide this type of service?

It would probably be cheeper than new wheels.

Anyone else? Where to find used SEC wheels like Bassett or someone to convert 16" GTAs?
