weatherstrip replacing

I just replaced my weatherstrip with an aftermarket brand. Well it fits like crap an the door wont close even if you slam it shut (about 1/2" door gap when closed) Im not sure on the brand of the weatherstripping since i bought the kit 5 years ago but the clips on the door stripping is blue. Just seeing on what brand it is so i dont buy another one like it. Also is it worth the 500 for Gm door stripping

A lot of them are like that what I would do is lossen you stricker bolt and move it out until the door will close then let it sit over night then just keep moving your stricker bolt in until you get it were you want the door to be

Yep that is NOS but if you have the time use soft seal and just work with it

Re: weatherstrip replacing

i just found out that i have metro weatherstrip. is softseal better then them. also i noticed while putting the ttop weatherstripping on there are pretty big gaps in the outside corners of the top. Would softseal be a better option for that also or should i look for nos

That is one of the problems Ive had with the cheaper brands is that they are to short I dont have many problems with soft seal its just you have to work with them to Ill say crush them its like they are to tight when you first install them but like I said in the other post you just have to adjust the panel out and keep moving it in until it fits

Re: weatherstrip replacing

When I replaced all mine the doors were hard to close, but it got better with time. It seems like it got a lot better after the car sat in the summer heat for a few days. I cant remember the brand but I got the entire kit from ebay.

Re: weatherstrip replacing

We carry the factory GM seals, and also really good aftermarket ones. Here's a link to our weatherstrip section on our website. If anyone has questions you can always PM me too. Hope this helps out.

Re: weatherstrip replacing

I have heard people complain for years about the weatherstripping they bought elsewhere. When the OEM stuff lasted 20+ years, you tell me if the price is worth it. I replaced my weatherstripping a few years ago and I didn't have a single problem. Everything fit perfect and I bought the factory stuff. You get what you pay for. I would suggest NOS stuff or GM seals as they will be a better fit. You won't have any issue with it and that is worth the extra cost to me.

I just checked 1A Autos pricing and see that the prices are much higher today than when I got mine six years ago. I paid about $250 for the ttop weatherstripping that 1A has listed for $450. But again, I got mine when the dealer still had access to them and they were more readily available. The TTop to window seal, at $85/ea, is in line with what I've seen elsewhere. I paid about $110 for mine six years ago, and I have Soft Seal and not factory for those seals.
