My old windshield rubber molding was torn at the top and I had to remove it. The windshield is still in place. I have a new molding to put in. However, is there a way of installing the new molding in without taking the windshield out? If it is possible to do so, what sort of adhesive would one use to secure the new windshield molding? Would weatherstrip adhesive work?

I just had my windshield replaced on my 92 and the guy said they dont make a molding for this car anymore and he used a universal molding that stuck to the edge of the glass. Granted he out the molding on before he out the window in but I have peeled it up and put it back before to look at it cuz I need to cut it. It almost covers the pillar its so big lol it needs to be trimmed down. But go to any windhsield place with the car and just ask them if they got something that will work

When mine was replaced, he used one for a Taurus I think. It is wider, about 3/4". I didn't like it at first, but if you had a repaint that was masked up to the old one, it will cover the edge. By the time you buy the gasket and the urethane to put it in (around $50 I would guess) you may want to check on the price of a new windshield. Mine was $180 pulled and installed. This will give you a chance to check for rust around the mounting area and repair it before it gets away from you.

I already have bought the new trim from camaro central. The car has no rust. The old piece had a chunk missing out of it on the top. I removed it, taped off the windshield and repainted the car. Now I need to install my new rubber trim around the windshield. My windshield is in good shape and it would be great if I could install the molding without having to remove the windshield first.

The CamaroCentral example is installed as the last step, no windshield removal necessary. The upside-down Christmas tree is designed to push into the gap between the windshield and body.
I don't know if this should be installed dry, or glued. The windshield should be watertight. Sealing in the weatherstrip would keep any water out of that channel, heading of future rust.

JoeTag's comment was to use the opportunity of windshield replacement to make sure there was no rust in and around the windshield area.

Sorry for piggy backing your post, but I have a question on the same seal. I am restoring an 86 IROC and getting ready to start the paint and body work. I would get a much better paint job by removing the trim before paint. My concern is if I would get a good seal if I only remove and replace the trim? Not sure if the current windshield is water tight or not. I had a leak before starting the restoration, but the biggest issue looks like the T-Tops (the headliner was totally gone).

The weatherstrip should not affect the seal. I did the same thing when I had my car painted. I tore out the old one, and the new one was reinstalled after the car was painted.
