Pics of rocker panel

Hi,

I'm repairing som old rust damage due to incorrect placement of a Jack on the front passenger side rocker panel.

The area is so damaged so I dont really know what shape it originally had. I've included som pics of the damaged area.

I was hoping someone has some pictures of this area form underneath so I could see, I've been searching the site forever but didn't quite find what I needed.

I'm basically wondering if the pinch weld line should be completely straight from front to back, both horisontally seen from the side and seen from rear towards the front from below, (I know the area the front fender is attached extends below the line of the pinchweld).

A pic of the passenger side front rocker panel seen from the side would also maybe help.

Thanks

Re: Pics of rocker panel

Hi, if i am correct the pinch weld should go in a straight line from the front tire to the rear tire. Do you have a rust hole near the pinch weld area? I currently have a semi large hole right behind the passenger side front tire on the pinch weld from the same thing someone jacking it up wrong and bending it. I am not sure replacement rocker panels come with the pinch welds or not. If you have a replacement rocker panel please let me know if it has the pinch weld.

Thanks
Mark

Re: Pics of rocker panel

You can just see the hole in the picture I posted, seems like we have the same damage but i will just make a square patch an weld it in.

Can someone tell me the thickness of the pichweld area plate that the rocker is welded to?I tryed to measure it, seems like 0'8 mm, correct?

Re: Pics of rocker panel

Well here come the repair pics for those who like body work Basically three steps, straightening, cutting out for replacement panel bits, and welding. Turned out the rust extended up past the floorboard so the piece I welded in reaches from the pinch weld at the bottom , past the floorboard pinchweld an is welded to inside panel that makes up the cavity inside the rocker panel, so it is pretty much as it is from the factory. Just needs Paint and sealing.

Re: Pics of rocker panel

Final pics. Ended up needing to make 2 spacers for the lower rear part of the fender to line up with the rocker panel. Didnt really understand why this is so now that the pinch weld is all in a straight line from front to back - well well, its done

Nice work man. I have to make an almost identical repair to my car. The pinch weld was bent over years ago and the rocker has rusted through. I will use your pictures as a guide on what to do!
