red and black theme?
Hey guys. Getting my 86 ready to roll into the paint booth and I'm stuck on a design iv had in my head for awhile. I just added ground effects to my sports coupe and am going to repaint the car victory red to match the original paint. My question is that I'm thinking about doing the gfx in black to offset the red. Has anyone done this before?

I don't like two tone cars, so my votes "no", but I think either way would be great (who doesn't love new paint?!) Looking forward to seeing it either way!

Kind of opposite of what you want to do but here is mine. Semi gloss black and the original maroon budget paint job till I get the money for a proper paint job.

Basically what you want to do is do what the factory with the z28, gfx a different color than the rest of the car. If you do a black pinstripe about 1/8 to 1/4 above the gfx as a little transition between the colors it would look really good.

I thought about painting mine red with black GFX, but decided against it. I'm afraid they will disappear against the ground and the shadows under the car.

If you do black gfx it will make it look like it doesnt have gfx from a first glance. I would say no to that idea.

Re: red and black theme?
It'll look bad but if you want to be "different" and just make the car two tone because "two tone is better" then you'll be happy with it. There's a reason the gfx were only painted bright silver or bright gold, and even then with the 85+ ground fx gm ditched it anyway.

Re: red and black theme?
I would keep the gfx the same color as the car.
But I do like the red/grey color combination on the firebird below. It works on that car especially with the color of the wheels. I would consider something like that if you want a 2 tone look.
