Cool aerodynamic modification
So for a while I have been huge on aerodynamics and downforce. It started when I put a "scoop" on the underside of the body to take air to the radiator since the lip was broke off. This brought my temperature down a bunch and I redirected my intake to take just that new cold air getting forced in, now for my question, Is my cowl hood still taking air in with this scoop as big as it is pointing upward a little or is it oushing air out, if it is still taking in, what can I modify to have air go out. And thoughts of putting a full underbody kit to remove all air roughage including a plate under the engine bay to remove any air going out from the scoop going under the body and creating drag. these cars werent really designed for all that. The air dam pushes air up into the hood already anyway. Tie some strings to the back of your cowl and see which way they point going down the highway.

The cowl, by design, will generate a low pressure zone inside itself as you move. The only way to stop it from doing what it is designed to do is to change the design. As in adding a vent at the front of the cowl to allowair to pass easily under the bulge of the cowl. This would allow a smooth controled flow of air over the engine bay and out the other end, thus pulling heat with it.

Thank you does anyone know about having an underbody sheeting on these cars? Just to get the aerodynamics even higher on our already efficient CD cars?

GM designed the 3rd gens in the same manner as older GM cars, air up into the radiator via grilles and/or air dam and then out through the radiator under the car.
So for what you did, it is expected that better flow with that scoop would lower your coolant temp - all things equal.
But the most efficient way to run air into and out of a car with a front radiator is into the radiator (either through grilles, air dam) then through the hood over the top of the car. That design produces the least amount of drag, usually cools best, and adds downforce (or in most cases eliminates lift). A great example of what I'm talking about is on the Ford GT of a few years ago.
You could have an arrangement like I just mentioned, but blowing the hot air out of a cowl, assuming the shape and size were optimal - the pressure of the air would easily overcome the low pressure generated at the cowl at speed. But it would not work as well as the hood venting.

That is what I thought on the cowl not putting air in as hard as the air out would be true but I will drive it sometime this week with the string test which is a very good idea! if it doesn't work, can I modify the cowl hood to make the air not come in but the inside air still go out?

I put a huge air dam on my suburban and nicely improved its cooling and I picked up about 1mpg at highway speed, I wish I would have thought of it 6 years sooner than I did.

interesting stuff, i wanted to run a car temp down a long time ago and all i did was take off the rubber cowl/hood seal sitting on the cowl. this let the engine air move out the back of the hood and over the windscreen. worked well except my screen would get racing car filthy pretty quick :-)
