headlight doors
i,m new to pontiac and firebirds . i have a 86 that i,m restoring . the headlights having been working great , now all of sudden the right headlight will not go down. left side worked fine . did get it closed manually . any help would be appreciated , thankyou ron

There's a few things you can try. First put the lights up. If one comes up try getting out with them still on and tug lightly on the light that will not come up. If it does, then it could be the motor for that light is going. It also could be a couple of teeth have became so worn down or have broken off completely on the gear and it won't engage or the motor itself is shot. Also it could be your headlight control module is bad or on its way out as well.

I am pretty sure your control module is in the same place as mine (different year and car), but it should be in the same place I believe. Try lightly tapping on it or wiggling the connections. If the light comes up it means the solder joints could be worn or completely broken off (that's what I was told at least).
Edit: Sorry I see that you are having trouble with it going down. Though it could be the same problem. A few teeth broken off or worn out at the the end when the light is in its up position. Also it still could be the headlight control module as well.
