do something different?
Ok 86 iroc-z28 is bright red/red interior. I am going to have it repainted just cause clear is peeling and its original, so its time.. Anyhow this car has 51,000 original miles on it and i am keeping it the original color, so a new color is not an option.
But I want something different like maybe airbrush or something. what ideas do you have??

Re: do something different?
Personally I'm not a fan of airbrushing on 3rd gens. If I had a red camaro I would put black stripes on it. Thats not that unique but I think it looks sharp on those cars.

Re: do something different?
Those Heritage Style stripes go on the hood and the trunk lid/rearspoiler. Never on the roof.
But just my
If I had an '86 Bright Red IROC like my Aunt had, I'd just keep it stock and plain, or add the black and silver IROC stripes around it with the IROC-Z on the door decals.
Nothing different and non-factory for me since I think it's already Badass the way The IROC came from the factory, it stands out on it's own. And will be heard/noticed with the 80's Series Flowmaster 3 inch cat-back system.

Re: do something different?
The stripes are on the hood, hatch and wing only.
There's also something different, my wing.
I was having second thoughts about my decision to use it
I have taken a really hard look at it, photos don't do it any justice.
It is a freaking masterpiece concerning the paint. My good friend and painter did his very best on it for me and that's saying a lot.
Its definitely staying just as it is.
Heres a bit of info. someone might decide to use. The bottom of the wing does not touch the paint on the deck even with out stock spacers.
I simply used very thin and small nylon washers on the mounting bolts in between.
IMO, it looks very clean.

Ron, I know I said it before, but damn that's a beautiful third gen.
That whole package just works and pops. Perfect color and stripes, the right wheels, the right cowl hood height.
She looks really good man

Looks awesome Ron. I'm getting ready to put "stupid money" into my Iroc vert.... just have to pull the trigger. Paint/interior, everything else is done. Interior isn't bad, just have to decide to put racing seats or keep stock, racing seats look cool.

Re: do something different?
I really do like this!! the hood is about the same as the one im going to order(my hood wont close without the air cleaner button hitting, 350 carb swap from 305tpi) and I think i like the wing better then my stock. now you left your trim off of the doors? and didnt not reinstall the iroc decals?(was it an iroc) oh and mines t-tops not that it matters.. Anyway bud it looks great!!!!!

Re: do something different?
The decals are there you just can't see them from that angle and curvature of the door.
They went on about 7 years ago 3 month after the new paint because I wanted to make sure the paint was fully cured.
Special order because I wanted black and it did not come as a stock option.
Also when I bought this car it was in really bad shape and even the rear hatch glass had a huge chip out of it.
So when I went hatch shopping at the wrecking yard I found the one I have now.
I had absolutely no idea what it was but it came with limo tint and I thought it look really good. $ 70.00 and it was mine.

the paint process looks pretty good for your car. i never realized that the scoop hood had just a cutout for the aircleaner guess i figured the whole lifted area would be open..
I want to get my seats redone theres nor rips or anything just some fade on the top of the back seat. I would like to find someone in my area western Pa

Re: do something different?
Some cowl hoods are open as you suggest.
My top lid filter and most of the 3in x 14in round filter actually extends up into the round opening of the hood almost with a complete seal around the edges allowing it to pull only cool air from the cowl.
It mixes with the air being pulled from the sides left in the bay and helps keep the actual air entering the T.B.I. at decent temperature.
They do make a air box to go around the complete assemble sealing it off completely from the bay only drawing cold air from the Cowl.
Thats how Chevy introduced the first cowl hoods on the First Gen Camaro.
It was crowned "Cowl Induction" and the Cowl hood was born.
About that time Chevy also designed and introduced the first "Spoiler" also on the Camaro.

I always thought a red IROC would look good with the later style yellow and silver striping. I don't think I've seen anyone do it before, but it looks good in my head, lol.

Ah, Correction.
I don't remember seeing the yellow and silver on one. Probably cuz I've only seen it like once or twice in my life

Yeah, those ones! I've only ever seen them on white cars and it's not a common stripe color. I think it might look good on a red car.

Re: do something different?
Took me an hour to photoshop. But I did 3 of them. I think White car looks good with Black and yellow stripes just as good as Silver and Yellow.

I did them in White car with Red and Yellow

And BY FAR the Hardest, Bright Red and Silver and Yellow Stripe

I have a dark red front bumper from a donor car and it has I think black, gray and maybe red lines like those do. Looks really nice. if you're interested I could post a pic.
