prep. to paint
Materials cost $1,500.00 including all new weatherstripping and miscellaneous "parts and pieces" .
Then there's what I payed my friend ( pro.painter) to do the job. another $1,500.00 = $3,000.00 Base/Clear coat with the best PPG has to offer including PPG crystal red pearl additive.
The car was on its way to the junk yard. I took a chance and payed $500.00 for it. Needed a fuel pump ,water pump , power steering unit ,new steering column/ VATS module ,intake manifold gasket, front windshield ,new front bumper cover and lower valance, new rear hatch and motor, some of the interior including front seats, head liner ,door skins, console ,etc. .
9 years of hard but fulfilling work so far

I LOVE black on red! The only thing I'm not too fond of is how the stripes are so squred off at the hood. I prefer a round tip but thats all prefrence. Looks awesome nonetheless!

Re: Prep. to paint photos
Thanks allot guys.
As you may know things change when you have a paint job like these.
It’s like working around fine china. The paint has only been touched by a bare hand ( fingers ) while opening and closing the hood, hatch and doors
and even then it’s with an easy touch. There is no leaning or god forbid setting something on the car and parking is "always" in no man’s land. I even lost a girl friend because of that.
Since it’s my DD (only a few miles each day) I have realized there’s no way around the everyday little chips and marks that seem to show up magically.
Don't get me wrong, I’m not crying over the things that can be expected to happen in everyday life but just thought I would mention the way things are with my paint.
Thanks again for the compliments. I finally found the seats I want.
4th gen. out of "Pick-N-Pull.......Talk about luck.

Re: Prep. to paint photos
Here's the only thing I use on the paint.
Its a pure Synthetic Polymer Sealant .....and once a year a Synthetic Polish and Sealer called "Race Glaze" to remove it and give it a base coat. Then apply the Meguiar's over that and start again.

Re: Prep. to paint photos
Thank you,
He did it for $ 3,000.00 as a favor for me.
He looks young in the photos but has his own shop up north of me called "A Step Above".
I helped when I could but just got in his way because he's not only great at what he does he's fast. He makes it look easy, but no,no,no,
way......
He sprayed paint cards until we found what I wanted as far as color and peril additive and I did design the stripes and there lay out.
