Bought an 89 vert to play with not too long ago. it needs plenty of tlc. Right now the trunk lid refuses to latch closed. Everything looks to be working, but without latching. Which parts should i suspect and replace? Help!

 

Follow the Tech Article I wrote that is posted on TGO under "General Repair" section. First, have you tried pressing on the striker-sensing switch? If you press it the unit should power down, then release the switch when the unit reaches the end of the down cycle and you hear the "CLICK". If that doesn't work, then check that you have power at the red/white stripe wire that is plugged into the blue wire. Next, call me and I'll give you instructions on how to test the reversing switch.
