Issues seeing headlight beams when Turning.
Issues seeing headlight beams when Turning.
I have a rather bizzare question for you guys. It is related to electrical but its also body so I decided to post where it made more since considering its an electrical question as well.
ISSUE:
When turning I can not see the other side of a turn to the left or right of the car at night. It is not the beam direction and brights barely help.
THE QUESTION Part 1
Alright do any of you guys have issues seeing left an dright during night driving?
I know the adjustment areas for the headlights and I have new headlights however I drive on I-75 at night and turn off to get gas and I can not see enough to the left or right almost to the point where I need a flash light to shine to see the road. It is very bad. The issue I have is my head lights are straight outand shine on the road just fine however the sides are underlit. If I adjust them to the sides I will be shining oncoming drivers so it really isnt an option I have them set as far as I feel plausable without blinding others.
THE QUESTION Part 2
Do any of you think that fog lights could help fix this issue?
MY MINDSET
I was thinking of installing new ones (the factory housings I still have but my cars previous owner cut the wires and didnt use them so they are garbage. But my thinking with using foglights is they are lower to the ground and I can connect them to a switch I already have installed for other issues I have since fixed. I figured I could set them up at an angle to light up the left and right bits of the road so I can actually see where I am going.
Any suggestions, thoughts, or similar issues?

Re: Issues seeing headlight beams when Turning.
Are you sure you're not just looking for an excuse to install HIDs?? j/k
First: I would make sure the low beams are aimed properly. What might appear aimed might actually be way off (and usually is). Use your favorite search engine and you should come up with some aiming diagrams.
Second: How old are your headlights? You might consider replacing them. As headlights age they tend to turn brown.
Third: Fogs are designed to throw light towards the sides even when aimed forward. This might be the answer to your "problem."
Fourth: When was the last time you had your eyes examined by an ophthalmologist? Poor night vision is a tell tale sign that you're eye sight is poor.

My headlights are only shining enough to see straight ahead and I have to guess where the median is at the turn. I wish I had thought to take a picture of the last time I had to drive home to show how much of a pain this is. The best way to describe it is next time your driving at night or with your car parked and there are no street lights around look directly to your left and youll see pitch black because of the lack of light in that area, dont look at the area your head lights are shining off on the sid but directly left into the dark thats what it is like. about 20 degrees left from straight down the left side of the car is in pitch black darkness.
*EDIT: It is also an issue on the right side of the car not just left.
The headlights I have are about a year old I would say and they are in great condition.
Part of the issue may be the aiming of the lights and I may need to redo them but I was thinking fog lights would just be easier and I probably need them (been gettin pretty foggy here.)
