No, for 2 reasons. First, camaro and firebird gauge clusters are completely different, the speedo will not fit. Second, your 86 has a cable driven speedo, whereas firebirds went to electric in 86. You could not get a cable driven speedo in a firebird that went above 85mph, so if you found a 140 speedo, it must be electronic. FYI: camaro's did not go to electric speedos until 91, when the entire gauge cluster was changed.

Actually the Camaro dash changed in 90, not 91. Just splitting hairs.

Everything stated above is correct the firebird speedo probably would not work in a camaro. It MIGHT be possible to do a little research at the library figure out what you need & install the 140 speedo & the speed sensor into your 'maro. Its NOT impossible, but definately a challenge...
For sure you will need the speed sensor (from trans) Wires & the speedometer, then you will have to figure out a way to mount the speedo. Chances are you would need to at least make a custom made speedo face plate. Get some .060 plex for that, you would also have to make some sort of brackets & such inside your Instrument Panel (IP). There is a possibility that the Speedometer stuff might not actually fit into your IP. because of clearances.
Keep in mind this is all theory, & it might be possible if you do a little research & tinkering. I have NOT done this, but could see how it might work.
There is also a possibility that you would need the matching gear inside the trans, for the electronic sender unit.
Then again, it might be a bust & you waste $70 or so bucks on the firebird IP. Which you could sell on E-bay if in good condition.. .
If it worked out you could write a tech article how-to I imagine there would be several guys who would be interested in converting over their mechanical speedos to electronic.

IF you just want the Odometer, ANY Firebird with the electronic Speedo from 1986-1992 will work, you can disassemble them and put it in. Just reset the new odometer to the correct mialage for your car.
