Re: Repair and Repaint - My Blue 89 TA
similar to others I think... it's bolted to the deck of course... from there it's a bit of a wrestle...if you try to use the screws for each mounting slot it won't line up...the final was one screw in the slot mount on driver side and two on passenger side. Final appearance: passenger side virtually perfect, in my opinion, driver side you will see a bit more of the metal frame and mounts than with stock piece...will the average joe see it? Not usually... will we? Yes, but, we resprayed the metal trim black and that helped hide the mounts.... overall, given market options, I would recommend it. Can it be better, yes, is it good enough for most? I think so....my two cents....

I've read a bunch of these installs, and still have a bit of a hard time understanding how this thing mounts (I still have my original, so no experience with R&R yet). The photos help. Thanks.

Was the accident the son's fault? If not, I'd let him have the car back. The Accord can get him in more trouble if that's a concern. Four doors, mean more friends in the car, more distraction and possibly more peer pressure.
I also notice that the door molding is still on the passenger side. Will you be replacing the driver's side molding? That probably should've been taken off before the repaint. Looks good though.

Always loved the blue and burgandy TA's with the grey GFX. Nice car. Good job!
...just curious, does your son prefer the TA or the Accord? My 9 year old daughter wants a thirdgen Camaro when she's old enough. Now, I know she's only 9, BUT...if the time comes and she still really wants one??? I will absolutely nurture that interest in cars as not simply disposable tools to impress friends and get from A to B.

Unlucky kid I guess then, I'd take this over an accord any day!
