I have this trim on my driverside and can't find it in any of my catalogs or on the internet any where. It's underneath below the ground effects on my 87 GTA. It's missing on the passenger side. I have a 88 Trans Am Ttop parts car and it is missing on both sides. What in the world do you call this trim? You can see its a little mud stained. Looks to be about 2 1/2" tall.

Yes, mystery part of some debateable function.
Personally, I think it was just visual cover for exhaust pipes and such, made it look cleaner and lower. Some think it was for aerodynamics, but seems unlikely to me.

 

It's a Air Deflector and also called a Fence.

thanks you nailed it with fence. apparently it is something i will have to get used. it bugs me only having the one on the driver side. once i put fence in my search keywords i was able to find some old threads about them. appreciate your time to help me solve this.

I think I've got them on both sides of my Trans Am. I'm removing the GFX at some point so if need a set of fences I could sell you mine. If they can be rolled up the shipping shouldn't be too bad.
