Hatch problem

So here's the deal, I have a 85 t/a donor car. No keys, engine or battery. My problem is that I'm trying to open the hatch with out power or key. Trim panel is still over pulldown motor and lock cylinder is busted out and packed with expanding foam fml. I need to get the trunk open so I can swap it over to my 86z. Any help or info on where to look or link to thread would be amazing. Thanks guys, first post in several years

Re: Hatch problem

The 85 does not have a pulldown so I do not think the trim will fit your 86. If the lock is already busted out, you may be able to stick a screwdriver in it. How I was able to get mine open on my 89 was by removing the light cover.

Here is a video showing the 85:

It does indeed have the pull down, whether it's stock or modified I don't know, no rpo codes anywhere. What should I look for behind light cover to turn with a flathead screwdriver?

Re: Hatch problem

behind the light cover you should see a small slot where you can place a flat screwdriver in and turn, that should pop it

Finally got it. 2 days and a crap load of foam filler picked out later and it's open. Thanks for the help.
