Usually that is caused by worn hinges.

Re: new hood will not close??

hey so new hood and new hinges, so reason for new hood was my old hood was bowed up in the middle from 30 years of opening and closing, reason for new hinges was the hood was hard to close and was all kicked sideways when open and closing.i installed new hood shocks today (advanced auto pn#e4422) and fixed all my issues, hood goes up and down straight, takes about 1/3 the down pressure to close the hood compared to old hood shocks, and the hood sits flat in the back, all my hood issues fixed with new hood shocks....the crazy thing is is my old hood shocks were only like 2 years old and worked as in holding hood up so i assumed they were still good but i guess not?...if you have any hood issues try new hood shocks even if it seems like the ones on your car work fine.
