Re: Rotting out issue
Some photos of the damage would help. Getting an exact replacement part is probably going to be impossible unless you can find someone with a good parts car, so you'll most likely need someone who's good with welding to reconstruct it.

Does anybody have or had any issue with a small part of the subframe rot? mine has a few inches of rot but the cross member is solid and the bolt hols are good. Check out picture.

how good are you with metal working? you could fab up a replacement piece for that pretty easily with a cut off wheel, welder, and tape measure. do the rotted out floor at the same time

I actually never welded anything. This is the only spot on the car. From what you said, it's not to hard to fix?

it's not hard for someone who can do it but a shop will charge a good amount for it

Re: Rotting out issue
Would that be more of a body shop issue? I could drive it over and get a quote, I don't want to learn how to weld on the sub frame like that. I would rather try it out on a hole in the floor or maybe exhaust.

Re: Rotting out issue
That floor is done, sorry. Needs at least that area cut out and replaced... I wouldn't be surprised if there are more areas (like the bottom of the A-pillars behind the fenders at the bottom)
My subframe was gone so during floor replacement I found a subframe from a junked car, drilled out the spot welds for it, then removed the subframe from my car. It is literally a stamped piece of steel spot welded in 12 points inside of the front frame... Very easy to do once the floor is out and the repair is done 100% correctly and nobody would ever be able to tell it was done.
Heres my thread that shows parts of the repair.

Re: Rotting out issue
Nice, my driver floor isn't that bad. Since it is the last 5-7 inches of the sub frame and it already has eaten the floor around it a couple inches, should I replace the floor as well? I am not looking to restore this, I want it semi daily. Does not need to be perfect for me, just fixed enough that it holds as it should. I don't do welding so unfortunately I have to have someone do this for me. What would be your best guest for cost for labor?
