How do you change a side mirror

Ok... here's the question...

My passenger side mirror is cracked (glass) and I want to replace it. The mirror is the power type.

I recently purchased a used (non-powered) complete passenger side mirror.

Can I remove the "non-powered" mirror and put it in the one on my car? If so ...how?

If I look in behind the non-powered mirror I see three screws that hold on the mirror. Would it be as simple as removing these screws and doing the same for my powered cracked one?

Or go to the replacement mirror glass section of any autoparts store and get a new glass for $7 and glue it down with epoxy or silicone and be done with it.

Or, if for some reason you want go to the harder route... You can change out your mirror housings by taking off your interior door panel. With a combination of 1/4 extensions, you can get to the two nuts that attach the mirror to the door skin and swap out the mirrors. It will be easier to do the glass only, but if you're thinking about adding power mirrors or replacing a damaged mirror housing, this is the onlg way to go. See ya

I had the same prob with both sides being cracked on my 91 Firebird. I went to Wal-Mart and bought a replacement sheet that was large enough to cover both sides. It comes in a 6"X10" sheet I believe. I just made me a template out of cardboard, placed it on top of the sheet and traced it,then I cut the shape out with a sturdy pair of scissors. It already has an adhesive backing, just peeled off the protective film, applied them to my mirror housing....Presto Chango....NEW MIRRORS!!!!!!!....total cost for the replacement sheet was about 5 bucks.
