gauge ideas
My car doesn't have the computer in it any more. Because of this my gauges don't work. My speedo my tach and my fuel work my volt also. But my oil pressure and coolant temp don't work. How can I make them work. I would also like to put a higher mph gauge in my cluster. I have 85 mph. Can I change it? On another note my cruise control doesn't work either. How is that supposed to hook up to the carburetor?

The gauges should work with or w/o a ECM. Unless the original gauge sensors (or senders, whichever you want to call them) aren't there or not plugged in, they should work.
The cruise needs a signal from the brown VSS buffer wire to work.

It depends on what engine you had originally, I had a 87 Formula with the 4bbl & I could unplug the ECM, and the gages would work. I looked at a car that was converted from TPI to old fashoned setup, carb etc... and I wanted to know if he would sell me the ECM, When I unplugged it, his gages stopped working. I re-installed it... they started to work again. His Temp & oil pressure gages stopped working.
