Zepher, your door panels?

Zepher,

In the thread about the 4th gen seats, I noticed that you have 4th gen door panels, but they are cut in the front. What can you do you make it look good? Are you finished with it yet? If so, do you have pics?

I'm sure this topic has been covered, but not too many details are given, so I just want to know where to start and what issues I'm going to run into.

Thanks,
Chris

I have put off that project till I get the 4th gen dash. There is just too much of the panel to cut to make the door close and since I am not good at working with plastic or fiberglass I don't think I can get it to look very good.

It will be awhile before I get back to that project with the dash though, I am gathering up the parts for a twin turbo setup right now and that is gonna be my next big mod for the fall.
I need to slow down with the spending, I've spent over $5,000 in these past 7 months and the car isn't drivable yet.

Here are a couple of shots I took yesterday,

It looks as if you've got RS ground effects on the side, or are those original T/A? What do you plan on doing with the hatch, are you going notchback, or 4th gen T/A wing?

The car looks like it's coming along great.

Thanks,
Ya, those are the rocker panels from a 91 Camaro.
I am going with stock hatch with 4th gen spoiler.
I accidentally broke my old hatch when I was mounting the 4th gen spoiler, that's why there isn't one on the car right now.
here is a better pic of the side,

Are you going to try and blend the vented front gfx from a 91-92 as well to match your doors? It will be a nice mix of the best looking parts from various f-bods. Make sure you keep us updated to the status of this project. I'm very interested.

the car does look like its coming along but 2 things.........what the hell would posses you to put camaro GFX on a trans am?? i mean its no personal gripe of mine becouse its your car do what u want but have u ever heard of the term glue together?? not saying your car is by n e means im jsut saying if u dont want that name for your car i wouldnt bt so quick to put camaro parts on it. Also if your getting a TT set up how come u spent the money on a SLP dual cold air set up?? wouldnt that be useless with a twin turbo?? also how hard have parts been to find?? pretty costly i assume??

BTW no pun intended with that little glue together comment i would just hate to see u stick a wing from like a 92Z28 on the back of that thing. If your going 4th gen wheels and interior u sould consider becouse 86fyrbirds evil twin...lol

glue together is what you have when you rig a bunch of non-matching parts to "fit". It's called custom work when you make everything flow together. Do you think they did a perect job designing your car? Mines far from perfect. I see things on many diffrent cars that would upgrade the look/feel of my bird. I like the effects. The ones for the later firebirds especially(I have a 91) are horrid. Keep it going brother it looks great!

Well, I've always liked the scoop on the side of the Camaros, and I figured I should put them on my car. They are bolted on, btw.

I got the SLP Intake since the Turbos are going to be a project I am going to do in a year or so, and I can sell the SLP intake for what I paid for it.

Last night we shaved the antenna, and filled in the holes from the stock ground effects.

Next up will probably be doing flush door handles, like the 4th gens have, I hate the look of the door handles hanging off of the doors.

Gotta get working on my fuel problem, actually, lack of fuel. Can't get the pump to come on with it wired up the way I thought it was supposed to be.

Zepher...ur car is kick @ss. I actually almost bought the camaro gfx a few months ago for my car...since it is missing the under the door panels. I couldnt seem to find and still cannot find the side gfx for my TA. My '83 is almost done with the '86-'90 look...all it needs is the side gfx. The only problem was that I didnt know what I was going to do with the little emblem thingy....but you were very creative with your WS6 emblem. Keep up the nice work...I cant wait to see it finished.

James

Thanks.
What part are you looking for? the door ground effect for the T/A?
I have my stock ones still if that is what you are looking for.
I don't have my stock rocker panels though, sold those to pay for the Camaro Rocker panels.
Let me know if I have the parts you are looking for, I'll sell them at a very reasonable price.

No offense taken.
I get all kinds of criticism, people saying "why don't you get a 4th gen since you have all the 4th gen stuff on the car" and then people that say "Keep it stock looking".
I just want mine to look the way I want it to. I am taking the cool parts and putting them onto mine to make my car look the way I think it should.

I like peoples comments, good or bad. Gives people something to think about.

Too many decisions.
