Are IROC Louvers functional??

Hey,

Are the IROC/Z28 louvers functional?? Are they like RAM Air??? or cold air intake???

They are very functional at trapping water when you wash it, and splattering it all over your windshield after you dry it and take off down the road

Yeah they are! and then the water drips down the hood and leaves water marks that look like cracks. Grr..

I have a TA, not a camaro, but what if you took the LU5 (82-84 crossfire injection) Z28 hood with functional louvers and then bonded a "cut out" version of the Iroc Louvers over the old ones to allow air to pass through? Since it looks like the Iroc ones won't fit into the spaces on the LU5 hood, they seem big enough to sit over them, much like the 91-92 "blisters". Just throwing ideas out there. Below are the two hoods to see what I mean:
