Restore or Remove?
The interior on my '88 isn't in the best of shape and I've been trying to decide what I should do with it. If I gut it I'll run faster times and save a small pile of change. I can restore it and be a bit slower than if I gutted it but it'll set me back by a small pile of change. So what do you guys think. If you had to do a nearly complete resto on the interior to get it back into shape would you do it? Or would you get rid of it?

well it def depends.. are you more into racing it constantly, or cruising w/ it and having the occasional lady take a ride w/ you? a rollbar and exposed sheet metal won't help you get laid
, and new carpet and 4th gen leather seats won't exaclty hurt (jk). But if you're into weight savings go for it.

Restore it...I did on my 87 T/A and all of the parts can be found in the many 3rd & 4th gens. which are being parted out. I see them all of the time. Most of the interior pieces I got from a Recaro T/A that I parted out. 500 for the car....700 for the TPI ...200 for the trans...300misc parts=the redone Recaro seats in black and the rest of the parts I needed for my car for free

I say restore. Theres nothing better than riding in a car with a int.I hate the current look of my int, I have the dash and my seats in the car right now. I'm currently restoring my int.

i say if you're into racing a lot and you don't need more than 2 seats gut it. The weight you may shave off will even make a slow car a little faster. Also once you get your car really moving it will help as well.
100lbs for every .10 sec off your time........
restore it, unless your a bracket racer it's not worth it!
i love it when guys say they run faster minus the rear seats, a whole 30 or so lbs...........ha ha! see ya at the finish line!
