ok... I need help with seeing if this car will still run??

Im new to this whole Thread thing so bare with me please.
Its a 1986,(vin says 87) i-roc, z28 not really sure whats all been done with it but its my mom's car. It has sat for 18+ years( uncovered) in a barn but was previously taken care of. im pretty sure its has 130,000 miles, my mom wont get ride of it so i might as well try to fix it so that ended me up here. Right now im trying to turn the car on but the key wont turn anymore, ive tried Wd 40 in the key cylinder and wiggle the wheel but still no mos. now i can change the cylinder but i know you have to take the wheel off sooo. Wondering if there is any other way to take out the key cylinder

Sat for 18 years, the first thing it'll need is the fuel tank dropped out, cleaned out, and a new pump put in. Then you'll most likely need to replace the injectors (unless it's carbureted, then you'll need to have the carb rebuilt)
Next, you'll need to change the oil and filter, I'd pull the distributor and use a priming tool on a drill to prime the oil system.
From there, take the belts off and make sure the accessories aren't stuck (A/C compressor, alternator, power steering pump and air injection pump. Once you know these aren't stuck, put the belts back on.
Most likely the transmission is junk from sitting too. The friction plates in the clutches will have dried out and will be wiped out when the engine fires up and you try to put it in drive.
Then it all goes downhill from there once you try to get it moving. Brakes will be stuck, rear end seals will be junk... brake calipers, hoses, seals...
Basically by now it needs a complete rebuild and restoration.

Not really surprised i figured it was going to be this way but for rn its not going anywhere for the next few years so i fingered why not.(ik money will be a bitch soon enough) But i understand this project is unreasonable to some but i have a few friends who got into looking at it. Now i looked at all the fluids and they look good but im guessing from it sitting this long it doesn't matter. But is this wrought my while?

Post up some pics for sure, I wanna see her. Year wise, if the vin says 87' then it's an 87'. Is there a big ugly brake light mounted to the top of your rear hatch, or is there a light in the rear spoiler? Crack open the center console and post a pic of the sticker inside it, we'll be able to tell you exactly what the car is. If the car has no sentimental value, then whether or not it's "worth your while" will really depend on the rust situation as well as the equipment in the car. If it's rusty and carries no sentiment, then it's a parts car. If it's super solid but needs a mechanical overhaul then I'd base that call off equipment as well as your own desire to get the thing going. If you don't care much about it beyond just tinkering with it here and there, lose it. 18 years is a long time for a car to sit, and without even turning the key you can already buckle up for a few thousand before that car will make it down the driveway.

Dirt and stuff aside, does the car LOOK like hell? As in it it totally rotten and full of mold, or does it just look like something that's been sitting?

These thirdgen cars are going up in value. The demand is growing. Mainly because they can be modified and most parts are still available even in the after market. If it has a solid body, aka no rust or little, it may be worth something. Mechanics are not the best source for judging what a car is worth.

I like mechanics a lot (I used to be one, after all.). A lot of guys my age (late 40's) and older, are pretty jaded towards the thirdgen f-bodies. These were the last "easy and cheap" cars to modify. These cars weren't all that fast when they were new, so they didn't garner the kind of love and respect from the older guys that the first and second generation did. That said, there are some, like me, for whom these cars are beautiful. It's all a matter of perspective. Post some pics. You might have something rare, you never know.
