Panel adhesive
Hi, thinking of attaching my t-top center rail with panel adhesive, has anyone else done this, can someone let me know how strong the adhesive is, is it just best to weld it up?, many thanks

Re: Panel adhesive
The T-top center rail is a structural member of a 3rd gen; I'm unaware of any panel adhesive that would be recommended for use in that application. Weld it and be done with it.

Re: Panel adhesive
Are you talking about the black part that gets screwed down or the actual structure thats spot welded ? The black part uses a 3m strip caulk type of stuff under it.

Re: Panel adhesive
comes apart into three pieces, one piece spots onto centre structure, then a piece that screws down and t rail is riveted on top, i just thought it may be easier to use panel adhesive on the first part so that the weld doesn't crap up the paint, but with you saying it is all structural it will have to be welded

Re: Panel adhesive
the structural adhesive you're talking about is likely 3m 8115 panel bond. I would not recommend using this without a welding. If you are going to use it in conjunction with a resistance type spot weld for a "weld Bond" method than you should be ok, but the average person doesnt have a 26k resistance welder sitting at home. you are better to epoxy the back side of the panel along with the panel you are welding to, grind the epoxy off of the welding area and replace it with a weld through primer, and then after welding epoxy prime and then seam seal where applicable.
