I’m constrained by engine height and need a cowl hood to clear my air cleaner without having to resort to cutting a hole in my hood. But for what I’ve seen, I’m cutting a hole. The RA I/II looks awful and completely out of place, the Daytona and Twin Turbo hoods look like something from those terrible C3 body kits from the 80’s, Hardwood’s cowl hoods don’t match a single body line on the car (why do the sides of the cowl have to be vertical?), the IMSA hood looks great but not many have it and the few that do complained about fitment, the VFN hood is just too big, also haven’t heard good things about the USBody fiberglass hoods but I like the Indy 2” cowl they have. So that’s it. Our selection hasn’t grown in 30+yrs by a single design? Did I just destroy every one that’s available? Is there a gem out there that’s just not mainstream enough for google to find that looks good and fits well?

Re: Do good looking aftermarket Firebird hoods exist?
Eddy 2999 is what I believe the PN is. The big plenum Vic Jr intake which is an inch taller. The drop base on there now was the deepest one I’ve seen available. Something like 1.5”, by Stef’s fabrication

I've had an idea for a custom hood in mind for several years. If I'm ever able to have it executed, I'm sure it will garner almost universal disdain.
Cowls don’t look good on these cars because no one seems to have ever put the effort into designing one to fit the car. They all just looks like old designs slapped on a factory hood. a ‘91/2 Bird could probably pull off an RA1. They’re more subdued and generic and fit the slightly softer nose of that car. The RA2 however… I get the original Pontiac designers we’re probably going for a modern take on the 2nd gen Formula 400 hood but the 3rd gen cars just don’t have the bulbous overall shape the 4th gen had so the hood is all wrong.

Re: Do good looking aftermarket Firebird hoods exist?
There's this one from Hawk's: the Super Duty hood. Kind of a combination of an ISMA hood and a Camaro SS hood. My only issue with it is that it's too tall at 4", but that might work well for you, it being designed for a taller intake and carb, as a functional ram air hood. Hawk's lone picture is rather generic looking, but it does have the angled creases on each side like the stock hood. If it just wasn't so dang tall... 82-92 Firebird "Super Duty" Hood, HAWKS - Hawks Third Generation (hawksmotorsports.com)
Here are just a few pictures I've collected on the www throughout the years:

Nah, that’s as bad as the RA2 but now we’re crossing brand names too. Thanks for the attempted help though. I’d rather keep it classier.
Ive already got a 4th gen Camaro with that hood, but not THAT exact hood, anyways.

Re: Do good looking aftermarket Firebird hoods exist?
LMAO prossi, you found it! It does exist, probably fits like a dream and that’s what I asked for. But wouldn’t you know, it’s $4000!!! Makes feel better that it’s just a power bulge hood, wouldn’t fit anyway. I’m whipping out that hole saw now. My hood looks better in photos than it does in person and besides, air cleaner through hood will go great with my bent up vent from when the alternator fan exploded. Can’t replace that because they’re not making it anymore either.

What if you cut a hole and put an air scoop over it?
A........ Mustang sccop... .....is used for most older Toyota trucks that get a 3.4 engine in palce of the 3. slow them. It matches the lines of older cars and would like pretty tasteful.

gotta picture of what you’re talking about? I was considering running something like a five star MD3 air deflector in front of the cleaner
