Paint Type/Brand to Use?

I need to do some painting and trying to determine the best paint type for parts in the enclosed engine bay due to heat. I plan to primer with DP90LF then top coat with whatever works the best. For example; DBC, DCC, VHT, Rustoleum Engine, Rustoleum High Heat, etc.. What did the factory use? This is my daily driver so I want it to look nice and last but it doesn't need to be show quality. I do have spray equipment for gun spraying.

Underside of Hood
Radiator Core Support
Inner Wheelhouses
Firewall

Thanks....

Are you going black, or body color? Those surfaces were body color originally..

I would use the DP sealer with the DBC base and a good clear like DBC 2021.
With all the work, do it once. Although it doesnt make for a eazy touch up, but looks really nice.

Re: Paint Type/Brand to Use?

I am repainting in black. The car is an all black car. I thought about base/clear but wasn't sure how well it would work close to the exhaust manifolds. Also, from what I could find, most engine paints seem to be enamel single stage instead of urethane 2K. I recently bent my front right corner so replacing the radiator core support. I will paint the replacement core out of the car and install it. Then, I will be pulling the engine and transmission so I can repair firewall to toe board area that is rusted out. After that repair I will be painting the inner wheelhouses and the firewall so I can use different types in the three areas if that works best.

Thanks for the info on AUE-100. I haven't heard of this before. I looked at the PDS but it isn't clear that this is compatible with DP90LF primer. I haven't found anybody that carries it yet to find out how pricey it is compared do DCC.

Re: Paint Type/Brand to Use?

Just finished surfing the net and calling my local area paint suppliers. Nobody has the AUE paint that I can find. Wesco suggested Omni MTK for single stage. I think Omni has a base clear product also. Omni MTK is $80 a quart but they did say they have a cheaper product line (I think he said LumaBase).

Re: Paint Type/Brand to Use?

Right now I am leaning towards Omni single stage. Anybody know anything about the LumaBase product?

I have not used the LumaBase.
The Omni should play well with the DP sealer, but always check the data sheets.
