Port St Lucie to Miami MIA – F-Body Prep for the Drive

Just got the F‑Body prepped for the run from Port St Lucie to Miami MIA. Checked fluids, tightened up the suspension, and gave the LS a quick tune before hitting the road. Planning a few stops to stretch the legs and maybe grab a photo of the car by the coast. Everything feels solid, and the drive should be smooth with no rattles or surprises. Always satisfying knowing the car is ready for a long cruise.

id like to ship mine to ohio, and then drive the route 66 from start to finish, nearly 2500 miles.

Agree. Years ago, my wife had a family emergency back in Michigan. Tried buying a plane ticket and it was turning into a 2 day affair, at best. I suggested that she jump in the 'Vette and hit the road; it's 24 hours from Park City UT to Michigan. She did. No issues there and back.

MIA is the 3-letter aviation code for the Miami International Airport.

I used to live in Coral Springs which is just north of Fort Lauderdale (FLL.) Of course, FLL is just north of MIA.

I had a friend that lived in Port St Lucie (right on the Atlantic coast) and I'd drive up there occasionally to go offshore fishing with him in his 26' center console boat. Lots of good times!

Total distance from Miami to Port St Lucie is about 120 miles. Not all that far. 2500 miles for your Rt 66 trip, now that's far!

I would laugh at the over dramatization of his story but I don't think I've ever driven my Firebird that far.

At about the one hour point, I'm pretty worn out driving the Foxbody, Mustang coupe in my signature. 120 miles would be torture.

Since you mention LS we can probably assume its a well built car. 120 miles is nothing. I currently work in VA and have driven 700 miles round trip each week for a year in my 84.

Different strokes, I guess.

I drove one of my TA's from Mass to Boulder CO and back...twice. Drove it from Mass to Telluride and back -all three of those trips, loaded with ski gear. My Camaro, I bought in Mass, flew out there from here (UT) jumped in it and drove it back here to UT in 28 hours. (!) I've driven my 'Vette ALL OVER carnation, TO VEGAS, LA, up the CA coast, to Michigan (in the aforementioned wifey story). None of these cars missed a beat on any of these trips. What good is a car that you don't drive the wheels off of it? I had one of "those cars" (a car that I never drove)...and I sold that thing. Owning it was DUMB.

Nothing wrong with dotting the "I"s and crossing the "T"s.

It sucks being broken down on the shoulder, paying a large towing bill, and praying the tow truck they dispatch has the proper blocks/ramps to get a 3rd gen on a rollback. When my heater core failed at the beginning of our fall color tour (probably similar distance), it was a P.I.T.A. for all those reasons.

Totally agree. That is essential for "jumping in the car and hitting the road".
