How hard is it to replace the galss in the side view mirrors? I will get the glass from the bone yard if it is easy.

Im not sure about third gen mirrors, but i know some you cant just replace the glass...So you might wanna just get the whole mirror, like i said though, not sure.

well I'm not so sure about normal mirros , but with power mirrors you can just unsrew the 3 screws that hold it to the metal (they are underneath the mirror . I forget how you do it , but I Think you have to pry away the glass and then push on a new one (it's held by these weird X joints or whatever they are) ,lol
so it's definitely possible on power mirrors

If you try and pop the glass out you will break it trust me i know your best bet is to just replace the whole mirror it will save you some time good luck dave.

First off, yes you CAN replace just the galss on any of the mirrors (manual or electric). Be aware there are two styles of electric mirror. The older style has a screw in the center under the glass attaching it to the motor. On that style you HAVE to break the glass to remove the plastic backing piece from the motor. The newer style has a cross shaped metal piece that can be pried from the plastic retainers holding it to the motor. Either style, try removing the glass with a putty knife. Wear safety glasses and gloves when doing so. You will likely break the glass to remove it. Replacement mirrors are available at Pep Boys and other auto parts stores for a lot less than from the dealer. The drivers side is indistinguishable from OEM. I found the passenger side lettering "objects in the mirror..." looked a bit fuzzier than OEM. They have double sided tape that you peel the backing and apply. You can also use silicone or weatherstrip adhesive cement to attach it better. Good luck, Lon.

I'll second what Ionsal said. You can just replace the glass, I have done it. I got mine, fit perfect, and even says "obects in mirror..." for total with shipping of $24.95. Yes I could have bought a whole new mirror w/housing cheaper at a junkyard, but I have custom paint on the mirror housing, I didn't need to go to a junk yard and I didn't break a sweat. The replacement mirror glass just glues back on with silicon adhesive sealant, just like the original. The website for the mirror is www.automirrors.net or www.nationsglass.com They are the same company. I didn't see mine listed, but just e-mailed 'em and I had my replacement in under 5 business days.
