k- I got it! Damn... that looks mint.... not sure about the spoiler, but drifting looks like way too much fun.

What is the idea of drifting? Is it just to have fun, or do you actually do time trials?

Car: too many ...
Drifting is the opposite of Grip. In SCCA you try to take a turn the fastest possible while still retaining traction as to get the best time possible ... thats Grip. Drifting is the opposite ... taking the turn the fastest possible speed (or a speed that you feel safe with) loosing traction and getting sideways but counter-steering to come out of the turn proper. Drifting isn't about lap times or anything about that .. its all about the style and how cool it looks. Granted drifting isn't the fastest possible way around a track, but I'll tell you what, it is ALOT OF FUN!!!! Chris (REVLiMiT) is the best drifter i've ever met. He can hang with all the imports even though his car (and mine) weighs about 1000-1500 pounds more.

I've seen his hood up close and personal and believe me, its alot more than just black Chris has done one of the coolest and most original bodymods to his hood that i've ever seen. I think the wing looked good in person but the picture dosn't give it justice.

Well, now that I've seen the spoiler actually on a thirdgen, I don't like it at all. Its as high as the car. But I do like what you did to the front valence. Are you going to repaint the car or just paint the hood white?

I could call that spolier rice, LMAO

oh dear ***, I know your thinking, not that **** again, LMAO

But that is being used properly and not on the back of my mothers ford escort. Ok, before someone gets tweaked I'll stop joking.

But can we some some more pictures, close up ones, specially of that hood and the front spolier. And how about specs?

Well like my sig says its "Project Resurection" I'm still redoing the whole car. The hood will be painted body color once I atcually repaint the car. ALong with alot of other custom body mods. The car is gonna get painted gunmetal. I have more pictures but right now the server I was using went down. So I have to upload them all again I'll do that later. Heres some specs I guess if you atcually want some.

hooker headers
flowmaster 3" exhaust system
K&N open element
Eibach Prokit Springs
terminator subframe connectors
93Z28 rear sway bar
Cam out of a 91 Z28
Thats my performance mods. I used to also have a IROC rear end. Wiht a slipping trans and bald bald drifted to hell tires I used to run 14.9's@94mph. Soon I will have my trans fixed with performance clutches and a better shift kit. Also 3.42 gears with posi. Hopefully I'll be in the low 14's.

Heres my apearence mods.

custom vented hood
custom front valance
shaved antenna hole
shaved rear wing
APR GTII Evolution Wing
Custom white gauge faces
Customized tail lights
etc
Soon I'll have that smash fixed and then imma start the rear body work. Like shaving things, putting different lights, etc.

As for drifting....its all about having fun. Thats why I do it. I used to be a drag racer before I found drifting. Now I dropped from drag racing, freeway racing, SCCA, etc. All for teh art of dorifto (japanese for drifting)

Gunmetal grey... good choice!

Also, you said 'customized taillights', what did you do to them?

well by custom taillights I only mean that I got transparent red paint and painted the tail light so that its only red/clear instead of red/yellow/clear. I didnt know how else to word it soon imma change the tail lights though to some other cars lights...not sure what yet...thinking about skyline. The front GFX are a custom job. I'm still not done with them though. Still have more work to do to them....I dont know...I might put lights behind it...or I might make it cold air or brake cooling ducts....not sure what imma do yet....lights would look bad *** down there though...

As for SCCA? SCREW IT!! haha...I'm not a grip style racer and they are gonna ban me if I start drifting...they already had a talk with me last month cause I was drifting at SCCA. Haha...

y'all are too opinionated... To each his/her own on the spoiler.

If you want to experience "drifting" there used to be local "slick track" go carts and they waxed the surface to make it super slippery. You would crank the wheels in the direction you want to go, then whip it back the other way, while controlling your throttle to go around the corner sideways, once you were in the correct alignment you would straighten your wheels and punch it, to go straight. Its done lot with sprint cars, midgets & such on dirt tracks, quite fun actually.

Cool pictures!

John

There is a big difference from drifting and fish tailing aka Power sliding. What most domestic guys consider drifting is coming up to a turn going into the turn and hitting the gas. And at the exit of the turn the back end will slide out. They consider that cool and drifting. But they are wrong...very very wrong. Drifting is more about breakin the back end out before the turn and sliding through out the whole turn. ANd if possible keep sliding onto the next turn and doing multiple turns in one big drift. I used to consider my self drifting by doing fish tailing but soon I seen the light. And now I can break the back end out before a turn slide through out it and keep sliding to another turn and slide around that one. Then keep sliding and sliding around another turn, etc. Heres a very old video of me drifting a turn up at the local mountain pass. This is a very old video though from when I was mostly just starting to understand drifting. My skill level has improved greatly over this video.

Not to be an ***, but whats the appeal. You kill your tires, lose grip, and slow yourself down. I try to do all the opposites.

Well I like drifting cause its damn damn fun. I've tried almost every type of racing out there...freeway racing, drag racing, grip style racing (scca, open track events, etc), rally, off roading (trucks), etc. Nothing even comes close to the fun of drifting. Sure I burn up tires...but I"m burning up tires that I'm just grabbing out the the throw away piles from firestone, goodyear, etc. So really I dont care about burning those tires. I used to be really into taking turns hard (grip style) but slowly I lost intrest once I found drifting. Its just fun...pure fun

Being stationed in Japan for 3 yrs taught me several things.
1. Drifting is a blast, driving or watching.
2. Not all things are RICE. I owned a skyline, and I loved it. I also love my TA.
