4th gen ac/heater in 3rd gen possible?

Is it possible to put 4th gen heater/ac controls in a third gen with a custom center console.

the 3rd gens hvac controls are comtrolled by vaccum lines.. the temp control and and postiion selcetion (vent, floor, defroster).. u have to convert those to electric & get a new heater core (thats what i know u have to change, theres probably more tho).. if u know/find out how to convert these please inform us.. the blower is electric (ie: low, med high)..

*wondering out loud*

pontiac fiero has an almost identical design heater/ac panel, except it's all pushbutton/electrical (fiero uses motors to control the heater box). don't know if gm used this anywhere else.

wonder if this panel could be used to control electrically-operated vacuum solenoids? might take a bit of wiring work, and I don't know if compact, electrically-operated vacuum solenoids are available, but the panel should fit in the camaro, and they are so much nicer to use, you just push the button, no more sliding the silly slider back and forth to make sure it's in just the right position.

that way the heater box and all it's vacuum canisters stay in place and it's less of a mod. it still isn't the fourth gen full **** style, but way better than the stupid slider.

is the hvac conrols on the fiero vaccum or electronic?? if there vaccum, then it SHOULD plug in, probably with some modifications.. easiest way to tell is to look at the back of one.. if there are bout 7-10 nipples (for vaccum lines) then its vaccum controlled.. if not and there is just a wiring harness then its electric.. hope that helps the thought in ur head along......

I own a fiero so i can vouch for the fact that it is a pure electric panel. the fiero heater box is fully electral motor activated.

that's why you'd have to have vacuum solenoids...so that when you push the pushbuttons, the solenoids activate and route the vacuum appropriately.

i don't know how the hot/cold slider would work though

GTAs with a digital dash have a fully electric panel too. Possibly the same one as the Fiero.
