Fiberglass Z28 hood

I was taking my hood off the other day and I noticed how d*mn heavy the thing is. I thought I once saw fiberglass Z28 hoods in a catalog once. I like the way the Z28 hood looks with the louvers but I dont like how heavy they are. It would be a good way to reduce weight on my car and then I don't have to worry bout the thing falling on my head while I'm working underneath it and knock me out . If you guys know where I can find them, please let me know TIA guys.

Well I looked at the ascd one but it looks just like the IROC turbo hood that is also on the page. I'm just looking for an original IROC Z28 hood but made out of fiberglass. That way nobody knows and they think I have that heavy hood on

I wonder if you could use an 82 or 83 Z28 hood, they were Sheet Molded Composite..... some sort of plastic, lightweight.

The only sticking point you would have is how you mount the louvers off of your iroc hood.

Hmmm, I'll keep my eye out for one of those plastic hoods if you like....

I am also looking for an original '82-'83 Z28 composite hood for my '82 Z28 restoration.

i have one for sale that has a slight crack on the frame wrok underneath, and has been drilled for hoodpins. I have the ram air opeining assembly, but it's in pieces. other than that it's in good shape, and im willing to let it go cheap- real cheap. email me at higotoody@hotmail.com if your interested

I got a fiberglass Z-28 hood off a 84 carbed Z in a junkyard for $40. When my friend and I where switching the hoods out, you can tell a huge difference in the wieght. All I need now is the carbed V8.

does anyone know if the iroc hood on ascd actually looks like an iroc hood? From the pic, it looks like the iroc turbo hood on the red iroc down lower on the page. Can anyone shed some light on this subject?
