fixes?? >for a creaking door<

My '91 TransAm has developed a really bad creak in the driver side door. Oh man. It sounds like it's going to fall off any minute!

Solutions & advice please? I've tried greasing and lubing the hinges already... to no avail!

Thanks ya'll

If lubing the hinges didn't help, then the creaking may be due to metal-to-metal movement where the hinge attaches to the body. You may be able to tighten some of the bolts back down to get rid of it. Of not, then somebody on this board sells rebuild kits (can't remember who at the moment) for the hinges. They're a little steep for what you're getting, but they're aerospace components which "is the good stuff" . Or, if you're at the end of your rope, you could always take a MIG and give each piece a little zap where it connects to the body.

I had the same problem with mine. I used stuff called "drop will do". It is graphite based lubricant and my doors haven't done it in about 6months. works pretty good.

The UPPER door hinge on our cars often gets to the point where the bushings are completely worn through. So that the hinge pins (which are also worn out) are Steel-to-Steel in the hinge. At this point the top parts of the original UPPER bushing is simply gone away. And now the weight of the door also rests Steel-to-Steel. This is often why lubricants will only work for a short time or not at all.

When the UPPER hinge is worn out this bad, and many are. Then every time you open the door it is destroying the remainder of the hinge.

Thanx,ANDYZ28
